Event Name: L3: **Updated in STK 12.7** Starting Cislunar - Configuring the CR3BP Problem
Location: Online
Date(s): Sep-28
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. (ET)
Price: Free
Description:

The Circular Restricted 3-body Problem (CR3BP) represents a medium level of model fidelity that simultaneously incorporates the gravitational effects of two massive bodies on some smaller body, like a spacecraft. This class will teach you how to use STK's Astrogator capability and the CR3BP Setup tool to model an "Earth-Moon" CR3BP system. To do so currently requires the definition of an appropriate "circular orbit Moon," associated reference frames, and other necessary items.

The CR3BP setup tool is new in STK 12.7 and was built to assist in configuring the STK scenario to address the CR3BP problem. In this class, you will learn how to use the CR3BP tool to define a new idealized circular orbit Moon and build the necessary components. Before the setup tool, you would have needed to manually create a custom central body, custom reference frames, and design a force model with customized central bodies. Now you can do the same thing easily with just a few clicks using the setup tool.

Comments:

This lesson requires STK 12.7 to complete because it includes new features introduced in STK 12.7. If you wish to follow along with the instructor and are unable to upgrade STK to 12.7 on your computer before this class, you can use STK Cloud, a web-based version of STK. There is nothing to download in advanced with STK Cloud. It does not require a license or software install. If you would like to use STK Cloud, please select that option when registering and use the link provided in your confirmation email the day of the class to access STK Cloud. To use STK Cloud, you will need the following:

  • An agi.com account
  • HTML5-capable browser (IE is not recommended)
  • Fast, stable Internet connection that allows web-socket connections - test your connection here
